Jean-Marie is a 25-year-old graduate student at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga working on her Masters in Public Administration: Local Government. She currently has a BS in Political Science: Legal Studies from the same school. Jean-Marie, who was diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy in 1993, is the co-developer of transition programming for students with disabilities at UTC. Her passion and purpose is advocating and creating a policy for people with disabilities. Jean-Marie wants to raise awareness of the issues of fixed route public transportation.
Sarah Perez is a 10-year old straight A student at Knoxville Jewish Day School. She started a program called Children Helping Children and has worked on a fundraiser with Covenant Health. Sarah wants to be a neurosurgeon when she grows up. She never takes life for granted. “Love life and live to the fullest…I love my life!” Sarah, who has a C6-T4 spinal cord injury from a car accident in May 2011, wants to educate people that we are all equal regardless of mobility.
