Molly King, Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee 2002, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering in May 2001 from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. Molly who lives in Oliver Springs, Tennessee is currently employed by Barge, Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Inc. in Knoxville and works on various projects including airport design, highway design and greenway design along with serving as the firms Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) technical advisor for the Land Resources department.
Molly uses a wheelchair for personal mobility due to a spinal cord injury in the spring of 1996. She leads an active life with her son, Carson. When not at work or taking care of her son, you are likely to find her participating in adaptive waterskiing in the summers and advocating awareness of individuals with disabilities.
As a spokeswoman for persons with disabilities, Molly would like to educate others about issues such as physical barriers and preconceived perceptions of those with disabilities. Molly is also committed to promoting access to education for persons with disabilities. As Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee, Molly represented Tennessee at the Ms. Wheelchair America competition in Rockville, Maryland in August 2002. Recently, Molly found herself on the other side of the table as a judge during the Ms. Wheelchair Tennessee 2012 pageant!
